How did it all begin?
Agratas GlobalBiz was born from the coming together of like-minded experts who have been working in the sector of enterprise development. These experts began their journey with Kudumbashree in 2004 when the conceptualisation of a Microenterprise support intervention began. This concept had gone through several iterations based on the trials and testing conducted by Kudumbashree Micro Enterprise unit which included the current members of Agratas GlobalBiz. This refined concept was later adopted by Ministry of Rural Development’s (MoRD) National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) to be piloted in states outside of Kerala.
Members of Agratas GlobalBiz who were then selected as ME Mentors were sent out different states across the country to pilot test the proof of concept of an ME development intervention from Kerala. We defined and redefined the intervention processes to fit the demands and workings of each of the States. The success of this pilot then led to the scale up of this intervention under the program State Village Enterprise Promotion program to almost all the states in India between 2013 to 2022.
Members of Agratas Global were instrumental in scaling up the concept, developing modules for capacity building of community for managing the program as well as for providing technical and handholding support for the entrepreneurs.
We have since then worked on establishing resource centres for enterprise support programs, as well as in identifying and building capacities of individuals who can be deployed to set up such systems in other geographies.
